Get a Beautiful New Smile

Los Angeles cosmetic dentists Dr. Rayhan &  Dr. Marvizi typically recommend veneers to cover uneven tooth alignment, worn-out tooth enamel or chipped and broken teeth.  Porcelain dental veneers are a popular choice among our patients because they require a minimal amount of tooth reduction. They are made to be the exact same thickness and size as your natural teeth, and their shape, size and color can all be changed to match the rest of the teeth in your mouth.

What Is A Porcelain Dental Veneer?

A dental veneer is a thin covering composed of tooth-colored material that is used to treat a wide range of cosmetic problems, such as discoloration, gaps, irregularities in tooth shape, chips and cracks. Veneers are made of extremely durable material that’s designed to stand up to daily chewing and biting to protect the tooth, and they can be tinted to match surrounding teeth so they look completely natural.

How Are Dental Veneers Applied To My Teeth?

Before a veneer can be applied to the surface of a tooth, the tooth must be shaped and a small portion of the tooth’s surface must be removed to “make room” for the veneer. An impression of your tooth will be made so the veneer will fit properly and blend in with neighboring teeth. While your veneer is being made, Dr. Rayhan will use a temporary covering to protect your tooth. Once the veneer is ready, it will be applied using a special adhesive, and then shaped as needed to ensure it fits well and looks great.

How Long Will My Veneer Last?

Most dental veneers are designed to last for up to 10 years, and sometimes, they can last up to 20 years. The length of time your veneer will last depends in part on how well it’s cared for.

Will I Have To Do Anything Special To Care For My Veneers?

No, dental veneers are designed to be strong and require no special care – just regular brushing and flossing and regular dental visits to make sure they remain properly adhered. Although veneers are designed to be stain-resistant, it’s a good idea to rinse your mouth after eating or drinking a product that’s known to cause staining, such as red wine or blueberries, to make sure the veneers – and the rest of your teeth – stay white and bright.
